Cake Smash Essex

Cake Smash Essex… What is a Cake Smash?

Well quite frankly a Cake Smash in Essex is the ONLY way to celebrate your child’s first birthday! Clearly that’s not 100% correct, but some may agree with me (hee hee)

When should I book?

Ideally it’s best to book them in for when your little one is around 11 months, as it allows time to have the photos ready before your little ones big day if you wanted to use them for party invitations etc

What shall I bring with me?

We will have a full design consultation before the shoot. We will discuss colours/ themes. I personally make all balloon garlands/ balloon walls, so I can bespoke these to match your Childs birthday party theme for instance – anything goes. You will have full use of all my props and outfits. However please feel free to bring any special outfits that you may have and would like to be included in the shoot.

Prep for the big day

Although we all think babies will love cake, believe or not sometimes they don’t… So it’s is best to try and give them little bits of cake in the week leading up to the smash it self, so they are familiar with the taste of it. We can also hide little raisins (or other little snacks if you would prefer to bring something else) in the back of the cake to get them stuck in.

A few things things for you to bring along with you on the day:

– Change of clothes for you and baby (it can get messy!)
– Bath towel
– Bubble bath
– Plenty of water / juice for baby

The day of your session

Everything will all be set up for you upon arrival – Cake/ decorations/ outfits, you name it – its all ready to start.

After your little one has enjoyed tucking into some cake, we will put them into the bath for a little splash! This is probably my most favourite part of the session!

Siblings can also get in on the action if they wish!

I have even had clients request no cakes for their sessions, which works just as well, after all these sessions are celebrating a major milestone, you don’t have to do the norm, do you?

It doesn’t end there either…

Next we will do some simple portrait images. Timeless, simple, classic images that will stand the test of time.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, I hope you have found it useful! Next week I will be covering the difference between digital images and prints… A fellow photographer, Maddy Rogers https://www.maddyrogers-photography.co.uk has covered this topic recently in an amazing blog. If you are looking for the best baby photos Grimsby, Lincolnshire check her out – she is honestly the best of the best!
